Office of the Maritime Attache’ – Alternate Permanent Representative of Italy to the IMO
The Italian Permament Representative to the IMO is Ambassador Raffaele Trombetta.
His Deputy is Captain (ITCG) Andrea Conte, who represents and supports the interests of Italy in the framework of the international organisations which oversee matters concerning maritime shipping.
In particular, the Office represents Italy at the International Maritime Organization (IMO), the UN agency which is specialized in the field of global shipping safety and security and of the protection of the marine environment from pollution and piracy. Furthermore, the Office of the Maritime Attache’ also deals with the International Oil Pollution Compensation (IOPC) Funds, regarding compensation resulting from shipping disasters and the International Mobile Satellite Organization (IMSO), which manages global satellite communication.
