Alberto Costa, MP is made Knight Of The Order Of The Star Of Italy

Alberto Costa MP is awarded the decoration of Knight of the Star of Italy, presented by Ambassador Terracciano on behalf of the president of Italy.

In a ceremony held yesterday at the Embassy of Italy in London, Alberto Costa, MP, received the insignia of the rank of Knight of the Order of the Star of Italy (Cavaliere dell’Ordine della Stella d’Italia). The decoration was presented by the Italian ambassador, Pasquale Terracciano, on behalf of the president of Italy.

Alberto Costa was born in Scotland to Italian parents and has taken an active part in the Brexit debate, advocating for the rights of Italian and European citizens residing in the UK. Although he has been a member of Parliament for less than three years, he has a long history of supporting the Italian community in the UK.

As a law graduate from the University of Glasgow, Mr Costa joined the Treasury Solicitors’ Department, representing the home secretary and the justice minister in litigations. Mr Costa was also made parliamentary secretary to the secretary of state for Scotland, one of the very few from the latest intake of MPs to have been singled out in this way.

The decoration recognises his dedication to the cause of many Italians and other Europeans based in the UK during this delicate time and for his role in facilitating bilateral relations between Italy and the UK, in particular in his role as administrator of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Italy.
