A celebration of the 40th anniversary of Telespazio VEGA UK was held at the Embassy of Italy in London last Thursday.The event was attended by Luigi Pasquali, the coordinator of Space Activities at Leonardo and CEO of Telespazio; Andrew Cowdery, the director of Government Affairs at Leonardo MW; and Marco Folino, the CEO of Telespazio VEGA UK.
Telespazio VEGA UK, part of the Leonardo group, offers innovative services and solutions for the British engineering and space industries and has provided specialist consultancy on a number of major international space programmes. It is the largest aerospace, defence and security company in the UK and one of the top ten in the world.
In his opening address, the ambassador, Raffaele Trombetta, said that Telespazio VEGA UK is testimony to the strong economic links between Italy and the UK and the importance of the sector to both countries. Today, more than ever, he said, Telespazio helps drive innovation, transforming what were once mere possibilities into concrete services for a wide range of clients.
The event included an exhibition of eight spectacular satellite images of sites of particular interest around the British isles.
