Sergio De Luca, Gautam Nagpal, Mauro Sanna and Umberto Schioppa receive knighthoods of the Order of the Star of Italy

Ambassador Raffaele Trombetta yesterday presented the decoration of the Order of the Star of Italy (OSI), on behalf of the president of Italy, to Sergio De Luca, Gautam Nagpal, Mauro Sanna and Umberto Schioppa, in recognition of their contribution to British-Italian relations in the field of gastronomy and hospitality.

Sergio De Luca, the director of buying at Enotria, an importer and distributor of wines, has extensive experience in promoting Italian wines on the British market. He has fostered coordination with Italian institutions in the UK, raising the profile of some of the best-quality Italian products on the market.

Gautam Nagpal is the director of Bellissima Wines, a company that distributes Italian and other European wines in the UK. In this role he has not only made a significant contribution to the distribution of quality products in the UK but has also helped broaden the British market generally.

Mauro Sanna owns four restaurants and two food and wine shops in London. Over the course of many years he has raised public awareness of Italian food and wine and of his region, Sardinia, and his clientele includes numerous high-profile British and international public figures.

Umberto Schioppa began his career at the end of the 1990s at the prestigious Ritz-Carlton hotel in London, where held various roles before becoming director of sales. He has been involved in numerous initiatives organised by Italian charities, such as Il Circolo, through donations and philanthropic activities.
