EU citizens require passport to enter UK from 1 October

From 1 October most EU citizens will no longer be able to enter the UK using their ID cards and will require a valid passport. The British government has stated that EU citizens without a valid passport may be refused entry.

Only EU citizens with settled or pre-settled status under the EU Settlement Scheme can continue to use their ID cards until the end of December 2025.

The ID cards factsheet at this link contains responses to frequently asked questions on the subject.
