VII WEEK OF ITALIAN CUISINE IN THE WORLD, 14-20 NOVEMBER 2022

Today marks the start of the Week of Italian Cuisine in the World, now in its seventh edition.
The theme for 2022 is “Conviviality, Sustainability and Innovation: The Ingredients of Italian Cuisine for the Health of Individuals and the Protection of the Planet”. The Italian institutions in the UK (the consulates and cultural institutes in London and Edinburgh, the Italian Trade Agency, the Italian Tourism Board, the Chamber of Commerce and the Accademia della Cucina), coordinated by the Embassy of Italy in London, have put together a programme comprising many events.

What we are preparing to launch is the seventh edition of the Week of Italian Cuisine in the World, but my first as Ambassador of Italy in the UK” – said Ambassador Inigo Lambertini on this important yearly initiative. He added,“This yearly week for the promotion of Italian Cuisine, which engages the entire Italian diplomatic network, is the principal opportunity for the promotion of Italian excellence in the culinary and agri-food sectors, which enables us once more to promote the best of Made in Italy”.
The theme chosen for this year, ‘Conviviality, Sustainability and Innovation’, reminds us that the promotion of Made in Italy in the culinary field meets many of the issues and challenges of the times we live in. The respect of the land and of the sustainability of the food chain, in the broader context of Italy’s effort to safeguard the environment, is a strength of Italy’s agri-food and hospitality sectors. Hospitality, which goes hand in hand with conviviality, was put to the test in recent years due to the pandemic.
Finally, innovation, intended both as a spirit of new culinary creation that many people discovered during the lockdowns, but especially in terms of technological progress and new approaches for improving the production and distribution processes in agri-food, represents sectors in which Italy plays, without a doubt, a leading role.”
