First session of bilateral Italy-UK dialogue on science, innovation and technology

Dialogo bilaterale

This gathering, which took place on 19 June 2025 in the prestigious Royal Society, was a commitment of by the Memorandum of Understanding on Bilateral Cooperation signed by Italy and the UK in April 2023. It was coordinated by the Italian Ministry of Universities and Research (MUR) and the British Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT), the latter in collaboration with the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) and UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA).

The event was co-chaired by MUR’s director of internationalisation of research, Michele Mazzola, and his British counterpart, Adam Jackson. The agenda allowed the representatives and heads of the main universities and research institutes of both countries to examine how to strengthen the numerous existing collaborations and identify new ones in four strategic sectors: Research Security; Horizon Europe; Health and Life Sciences; and Scientific and AI Infrastructure.

The second session will be held in Italy in 2026.
