Italian galleries participating in the art festival each contribute a work to be displayed at the embassy.<\/p>\n<p>In 2022 fourteen galleries participated in Frieze London and Frieze Masters, and the exhibition of their works at the embassy was entitled &#8220;<strong>In Piena Crisi: Frontiers of Italian Art<\/strong>&#8220;<em>. <\/em>It was curated by art historian and curator <strong>Sofia<\/strong> <strong>Gotti<\/strong> of Cambridge University and included a selection of Italian art from the post-war and contemporary periods. The artists whose work was displayed were: <strong>Lucia Marcucci <\/strong>(<strong>Galleria Frittelli Arte Contemporanea<\/strong>), <strong>Mimmo Rotella <\/strong>(<strong>Robilant + Voena<\/strong>), <strong>Armando Testa <\/strong>(<strong>Galleria Continua<\/strong>), <strong>Carla Accardi <\/strong>(<strong>Tornabuoni Art<\/strong>), <strong>Dadamaino <\/strong>(<strong>Galerie Knoell<\/strong>), <strong>Greta Sch\u00f6dl <\/strong>(<strong>Richard Saltoun Gallery<\/strong>), <strong>Jem Perucchini <\/strong>(<strong>Corvi-Mora<\/strong>), <strong>Leonor Fini <\/strong>(<strong>Galleria Tommaso Calabro<\/strong>), <strong>Francesco Vezzoli <\/strong>(<strong>Galleria Franco Noero<\/strong>), <strong>Marinella Senatore <\/strong>(<strong>Mazzoleni<\/strong>), <strong>Adelaide Cioni <\/strong>(<strong>P420<\/strong>), <strong>Lucia Pescador <\/strong>(<strong>Apalazzo Gallery<\/strong>), <strong>Giorgio Andreotta Cal\u00f2 <\/strong>(<strong>Sprovieri<\/strong>) e <strong>Giulio Paolini <\/strong>(<strong>Cardi Gallery<\/strong>).<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Italy at Frieze&#8221; included a viewing on the evening of 13 October and a series of four talks on contemporary art, organised in collaboration with Illycaff\u00e8, which was also celebrating the 30th anniversary of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.illy.com\/en-ww\/landing\/30-illy-art-collection\">illy Art Collection<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The first talk, on 12 October, was entitled &#8220;<strong>Art to Business at Freize<\/strong>: <strong>celebrating 30 years of beauty with the illy Art Collection<\/strong>\u201d and was moderated by art consultant and curator <strong>Rubina Romanelli,\u00a0<\/strong>who was in conversation with <strong>Carlo Bach<\/strong>, illycaff\u00e8&#8217;s art director, and <strong>Pascale Martine Tayou<\/strong>, who designed the commemorative coffee cups for the 30th anniversary of the brand&#8217;s art collection.<\/p>\n<p>The second talk took place on 14 October and was entitled &#8220;<strong>Art as an asset: Decoding today&#8217;s art market<\/strong>&#8220;. The event served double duty, also being part of the embassy&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/amblondra.esteri.it\/ambasciata_londra\/en\/ambasciata\/eventi-contenuti\/italy-for-innovation\/\">Italy4Innovation<\/a> series, and focused on art as a commodity and refuge for investments, especially at times of financial instability. The panelists were <strong>Pietro Tomassoni<\/strong>, the founder of Artvisor; <strong>Alessandro Fiorotto<\/strong>, managing director of Gurr Johns Capital; <strong>Alexander Estorick<\/strong>, editor-in-chief of Right Click Save; and <strong>Micol Ap<\/strong>, founder and CEO of VerticalCrypto Art. The conversation was moderated by <strong>Carolina<\/strong> Mostert, senior specialist writer and project manager at Sotheby&#8217;s. The event was made possible by the support of <strong>Artvisor.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Another talk was held on the same day, entitled\u00a0&#8220;<strong>In piena crisi<\/strong><strong>: Italianity and transnationalism<\/strong>&#8220;. The title of the talk was a reference to the title of the exhibition and highlighted the complex matter of national identity and the concept of being defined as &#8220;Italian&#8221; in a world in which the notion of belonging to a country is a matter of debate. The curator of the exhibition, <strong>Sofia Gotti<\/strong>, moderated the conversation with artist <strong>Jem Perrucchini <\/strong> and <strong>Alessio Antoniolli<\/strong>, director of Gasworks.<\/p>\n<p>On 15 October the fourth and final discussion, &#8220;<strong>Sisterhood is Still Powerful<\/strong>&#8220;, also moderated by Sofia Gotti, featured artist <strong>Adelaide Cioni<\/strong> and curator <strong>Joana PR Neves\u00a0<\/strong>and explored the role of women in the world of art.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Italy at Frieze is an initiative launched in 2019 to celebrate Italian art in London during Frieze London.
