The presentation was part of “Finance Unplugged: Exploring New Dimensions,” a new series of Embassy events focused on fintech and digital finance topics.

The event featured Professor Brunello Rosa, the book’s author, and journalist Anna Irrera as key participants. This event – part of our series ‘Finance Unplugged’ – underscores the Embassy’s commitment to promoting dialogue on fintech and the future of finance, which are crucial themes for innovation and international cooperation in the years ahead,” said Ambassador Inigo Lambertini.

The discussion centered on the critical theme of the “geopolitics of central bank digital currencies”. Over 100 countries are currently developing digital currencies (Central Bank Digital Currencies or CBDCs), digital equivalents of cash that are poised to significantly transform the way national and international affairs are conducted. These currencies carry controversial implications, including risks to privacy, the stability of the banking system, the reorganization of financial architecture, and their cumulative effects on the current global political and economic order.

For more information:
stampa.amblondra@esteri.it
economico.amblondra@esteri.it

Italian Embassy Hosts Presentation of Brunello Rosa’s Book: “Smart Money.
