{"id":4463,"date":"2025-04-01T17:53:31","date_gmt":"2025-04-01T15:53:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/amblondra.esteri.it\/?p=4463"},"modified":"2025-04-01T17:56:38","modified_gmt":"2025-04-01T15:56:38","slug":"italian-threads-conversations-on-fashion-ep-6-industrial-districts-an-italian-specificity","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/amblondra.esteri.it\/en\/news\/dall_ambasciata\/2025\/04\/italian-threads-conversations-on-fashion-ep-6-industrial-districts-an-italian-specificity\/","title":{"rendered":"Italian Threads: Conversations on Fashion Ep. 6: Industrial Districts, an Italian Specificity"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>London, March 31, 2025 \u2013 The Italian Embassy in London hosted the sixth episode of <em>Italian Threads: Conversations on Fashion<\/em>, a series of talks in collaboration with the online news outlet <em>ThePlatform<\/em>, dedicated to one of Italy\u2019s most representative industries: fashion.<\/p>\n<p>The discussion on <em>\u201cIndustrial Districts, an Italian Specificity\u201d<\/em> featured Gianluca Isaia, CEO of Isaia\u2014an iconic name in Neapolitan tailoring\u2014and Maria Cristina Squarcialupi, President of Unoaerre, the leading goldsmith company in Arezzo, representing the fastest-growing Italian jewelry district.<\/p>\n<p>The project with <em>ThePlatform<\/em> aligns with the initiative <em>\u201cItalian Fashion Days Worldwide\u201d<\/em>, announced at the end of January by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Antonio Tajani in collaboration with major industry associations. The ongoing series in London aims to showcase the entire fashion industry\u2019s ecosystem and Italy\u2019s unique strengths. For this reason, the March event focused on industrial districts\u2014geographical areas in Italy specialized in specific production sectors, composed of small and micro-sized enterprises clustered around a few major companies, interconnected through a network-based system.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis event is dedicated to an essential aspect of our production system: industrial districts,\u201d stated Ambassador Inigo Lambertini in his opening remarks. \u201cTrue laboratories of creativity and artisanal mastery, these districts embody an economic and cultural model that has successfully combined tradition and innovation, making Italy a global benchmark,\u201d he emphasized.<\/p>\n<p>During the discussion with Maria Silvia Sacchi, founder and director of <em>ThePlatform<\/em>, Gianluca Isaia and Cristina Squarcialupi shared insights into the origins and evolution of their respective districts, the flexibility of this production model\u2014one that other countries have attempted to replicate\u2014the challenges they face today, and how their companies can serve as drivers of growth and support, especially during market downturns.<\/p>\n<p>The <em>Italian Threads: Conversations on Fashion<\/em> series, conceived by Maria Silvia Sacchi, resumed this year with Carlo Capasa, President of the Italian National Fashion Chamber, and Antonio De Matteis, President of Pitti Immagine, who on February 11 discussed the \u201cdiplomacy\u201d required to establish the global fashion week system.
