Conceived as a modern, integrated platform, the new headquarters bring together diplomacy, culture, and economic promotion under one roof, reinforcing Italy’s role as a global reference point for excellence, innovation, and dialogue.

The logo and brand identity was created following a student design competition led by Istituto Marangoni London, offering emerging creative talent the opportunity to respond to a high-profile, real-world institutional brief. The winning logo, designed by visual design student Jamilya Orak, has been selected as the official identity for Casa Italia.

Jamilya Orak’s design depicts two keys forming a bridge between Italy and the United Kingdom, symbolising dialogue, diplomacy and shared access to culture, creativity and exchange. Drawing inspiration from the architectural rhythm of Roman aqueducts and the instantly recognisable iconography of the London Underground, the logo balances Italian heritage with a contemporary, minimalist design language suited to a modern international institution.

Conceived as a bridge between nations, traditions and perspectives, the identity reflects Casa Italia’s mission to present Italy as a country where culture, diplomacy and ‘Made in Italy’ converge. The identity has been conceived as a fully-fledged system, with applications ranging from the physical presence throughout the embassy to official stationery, including letterheads and business cards, as well as a flexible suite of colourways designed to support Casa Italia’s future activities.

The new logo establishes a meaningful visual connection between Italy and the United Kingdom, stressing their excellent relationship.

A selection of proposals was shortlisted by an expert panel from Istituto Marangoni, with the winning design chosen by a working group from different departments within the new Casa Italia, led by the Ambassador of Italy to the UK, Inigo Lambertini.

“Casa Italia is the home of Italy in the UK, open to Italian citizens, British friends, and everyone who loves our country”, said Ambassador Lambertini. “The new logo captures this vision with clarity and intelligence: the image of two keys forming a bridge between Italy and the United Kingdom is a powerful symbol of our enduring relationship, rooted in mutual trust, cultural exchange and openness. This identity reflects a modern Italy that values dialogue, creativity and collaboration, while honouring the deep connections that unite our two countries”.

The Casa Italia logo project exemplifies Istituto Marangoni London’s educational approach, which places students at the centre of live, industry-facing projects with tangible outcomes. By working directly with leading institutions and responding to complex briefs, students gain hands-on experience that bridges education and professional practice.

Fabio Rubino, School Director, Istituto Marangoni London, comments: “Being invited to contribute to the visual identity of Casa Italia has been an extraordinary opportunity for our students. It speaks to the trust placed in education as a driver of cultural excellence, and to the relevance of design as a tool for representing Italy’s values, creativity and international outlook.”

London, 27 January 2026 – The Italian Embassy in London has partnered with Istituto Marangoni London to develop the logo for Casa Italia, the new headquarters bringing together the Embassy of Italy, the Italian Trade Agency, and the Italian Cultural Institute, located in the diplomatic heart of Westminster.
