﻿{"id":662,"date":"2021-11-16T18:22:54","date_gmt":"2021-11-16T17:22:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/amblondra.esteri.it\/news\/dall_ambasciata\/2021\/11\/l-inferno-piu-bello-dante-illustrato-2\/"},"modified":"2021-11-16T18:22:54","modified_gmt":"2021-11-16T17:22:54","slug":"l-inferno-piu-bello-dante-illustrato-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/amblondra.esteri.it\/en\/news\/dall_ambasciata\/2021\/11\/l-inferno-piu-bello-dante-illustrato-2\/","title":{"rendered":"L\u2019Inferno pi\u00f9 bello \u2013 Dante illustrated by Botticelli"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">To conclude the celebrations marking 700 years since Dante\u2019s death, Ambassador <strong>Raffaele Trombetta<\/strong> will open the doors of the Italian Embassy for a very special event.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>L\u2019Inferno pi\u00f9 bello<\/strong> \u2013 <strong>Dante illustrated by Botticelli<\/strong> will be the occasion to present the latest \u201cDante Project\u201d by the <a href=\"https:\/\/polonskyfoundation.org\/\" title=\"website of the Polonsky Foundation\"><strong>Polonsky Foundation<\/strong><\/a>, in a journey through time in search of the earliest copies of the Divine Comedy and its owners, through a census of all the copies still in existence, to reveal who the first readers of Dante were and how they annotated their books.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>For the first time ever in London<\/strong> it will be possible to admire a decorated copy of the <strong>first edition of the Divine Comedy<\/strong>, printed in 1481 in Florence, with 20 incisions based on designs by <strong>Sandro Botticelli<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Two videos will also be shown, taking us into the world of Dante: in the first video, <strong>Jon Snow<\/strong> and <strong>Zeinab Badawi<\/strong> will be voicing the Divine Comedy canti that inspired Botticelli for his designs; in the second one, we\u2019ll discover the first readers of the Divine Comedy, finding out who they were and what they wrote on their books, from family recipes to accounts.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"To conclude the celebrations marking 700 years since Dante\u2019s death, Ambassador Raffaele Trombetta will open the doors of the Italian Embassy for a very special event.
