London, May 20, 2026 \u2013\u00a0 The prestigious setting of the Embassy of Italy in London<\/strong> today hosted the official launch of the sixth edition of the Radicepura Garden Festival<\/strong>, scheduled to take place in Sicily in May 2027. Mario Faro<\/strong>, President of the Radicepura Foundation, and Emanuela Rosa-Clot<\/strong>, the festival’s Artistic Director, introduced the theme that landscape architects, young designers, and artists are invited to explore: Gardens of Hope. Cultivating Coexistence.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The event provided a major opportunity to bring together the Italian botanical world and British landscape culture, confirming the festival’s role as a creative connector centered around the theme of the Mediterranean landscape.<\/p>\n

Opening the event, the Embassy\u2019s Agricultural Expert, Gabriella Manfredi<\/strong>, emphasised the importance of the initiative within the broader framework of the Embassy\u2019s and the Italian Trade Agency\u2019s London support for the Italian horticultural sector: “The horticultural sector has great potential in a highly attentive market like the UK. Over the past two years, we have been involved in several initiatives to support the supply chain, both from a commercial standpoint and in relation to the constantly evolving British regulations.”<\/em><\/p>\n

In his speech, Mario Faro<\/strong> highlighted the international vocation of the Radicepura Park, which since 2026 has been a proud Garden Partner of the Royal Horticultural Society<\/strong>. “I would like to thank the Embassy of Italy for hosting us today. Launching the festival in London right now, while the city takes centre stage as the world capital of gardening with the Chelsea Flower Show, provides a powerful stimulus to strengthen our cross-border ties with a country that has a legendary appreciation for landscapes and open spaces,” <\/em>stated the President of the Radicepura Foundation. “Our mission is to champion this cultural project focused on the Mediterranean, which serves as a vital call to action for environmental protection and biodiversity. These are urgent, shared global challenges.”<\/em><\/p>\n

Emanuela Rosa-Clot<\/strong>, journalist and Artistic Director of the festival, celebrated the event’s deep-rooted connection to the British gardening world, citing the permanent gardens designed at Radicepura Park by James Basson, Sarah Eberle, and Andy Sturgeon. She then introduced the upcoming theme, which addresses the pressing need for a closer bond between humanity and nature. “The complexity of our world and the interconnected nature of our ecosystems show us that we must move beyond individualistic mindsets and actively practice coexistence. We are inviting designers to envision a garden created to welcome \u2013 one where plants guide the human experience, rather than the reverse. We need spaces capable of fostering beauty and shaping a viable future. A place where we can truly watch hope blossom again,”<\/em> the Artistic Director explained.<\/p>\n

The international Call for Ideas<\/strong> is open until 30 October<\/strong>. Creatives and professionals from across the globe are invited to work with the Mediterranean climate and flora to design innovative gardens that address contemporary sustainability and ecological challenges.
