Researchers, experts and representatives of civil society discussed how to develop an artificial intelligence built around people, able to generate trust, transparency and concrete benefits for all.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">At the centre of the debate was a question that can no longer be avoided: not whether AI will change our society, but how and to whose benefit. It is a question on which Italy has made a clear choice, as the first country in the European Union to adopt a national law on AI, in force from October 2025. The guiding principle is that AI must strengthen, not replace, human decision-making ability and liability, with human supervision at every stage.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The discussion was moderated by Professor <strong>Angelo Cangelosi<\/strong> of the Manchester Centre for Robotics and AI (Department of Computer Science, University of Manchester), an expert in robotics and human-robot interaction. The speakers were:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><strong>Vincenzo Naschi<\/strong>, president of the Human Economic Forum<\/li>\n<li><strong>Alberto Bernacchia<\/strong>, MediaTek Research, Cambridge<\/li>\n<li><strong>Gabriella Pizzuto<\/strong>, University of Liverpool<\/li>\n<li><strong>Cristina Becchio<\/strong>, cognitive neurosciences, University of Hamburg<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The initiative highlighted the robust links between the academic and research communities of Italy and the UK.
