The launch was held at the Science Museum in London.<br \/>\u201c2020 must be the decisive year in the fight against climate change, and science is our greatest ally in this\u201d, said Mr Conte, citing Italy\u2019s commitment to implement a national energy and climate plan aimed at achieving carbon neutrality, whereby sufficient CO2 is absorbed to offset the amount emitted.<\/p>\n<p>Italy will be organising two events in the autumn this year. The first, which will be held in Milan from 28 September to 2 October, will be focus on young people, while the second, in Rome, will be dedicated to Africa, which, said Mr Conte, \u201cneeds help and solidarity from all of us\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Johnson said that hosting COP26 is an important opportunity for the nations of the world to accelerate the fight against climate change.<br \/>\u201cAs we draw up our plans this year for the ambitious objective of zero emissions by 2050, we call upon others to join us,\u201d said Mr Johnson. \u201cWe must make 2020 a year of turnaround for global warming, the year in which we choose a future that is cleaner and greener for everyone.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The UK will chair the conference, which will be held in Glasgow from 9 to 20 November.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte comes to London to launch COP26 with Boris Johnson and Sir David Attenborough The Italian prime minister, Giuseppe Conte, and his British counterpart, Boris Johnson, today launched the process of organising the CoP26, the UN Conference of Parties to the Convention on Climate Change.
