The 4th Italian Cuisine Week in the UK 2019

Italian Cuisine Week in the UK, now in its fourth year, will take place from 18th to 24th November, with over thirty events in five cities (London, Liverpool, Manchester, Birmingham and Edinburgh).

The festival will showcase the variety of Italian cuisine, regional specialities and the benefits of the Mediterranean diet. The programme includes talks, round-table discussions, cookery classes for beginners and professionals, cookery shows and tasting events.

The events will feature several famous Italian chefs. Enrico Cerea of the restaurant Da Vittorio in Brusaporto, Bergamo (three Michelin stars) will be in London for a reception at the Italian embassy on 23 November. Gennaro Esposito, of Torre del Saracino in Vico Equense, Naples (two Michelin stars) will open his new restaurant, IT London.

Two chefs who are already fixtures on the London scene will also be involved. Giorgio Locatelli and Francesco Mazzei, both of whom appear in 50 Top Italy, the ranking of the 50 best Italian restaurants in the world. Locatelli, of Locanda Locatelli (one Michelin star), will hold a cookery lesson for students of Westminster Kingsway College. Mazzei, of Sartoria, Fiume and Radici, will appear, together with other chefs, at the Italian Food Parade, a public event at Borough Market on 21st November, when tastings will be offered by Italian restaurants and food producers. Producers from the town of Amatrice, which was hit by the 2016 earthquake in central Italy, will also be at the Italian Food Parade with their traditional products. Mazzei and Locatelli will put their names to the closing dinner on the last day, organised by the Accademia della Cucina. At the Italian Cultural Institute in London, Diego Zancani, a professor of Italian at Oxford University, will present his book How We Fell in Love with Italian Food. There will also be aperitifs, tastings and dinners throughout the week, as well as discounts and special offers at various restaurants.

Italian Cuisine Week in the UK is organised by the Embassy of Italy, the Italian Trade Agency, the Italian Chamber of Commerce in the UK, the cultural institutes in London and Edinburgh, the consulate in Edinburgh and the Accademia della Cucina, in collaboration with Bellavita and various private partners.
