Nicoletta Fiorucci has been awarded the decoration of Ufficiale dell’Ordine della Stella d’Italia (Official of the Order of the Star of Italy), in recognition of professional merit in numerous fields. The award was presented by Ambassador Pasquale Terracciano on behalf of the Italian president.
Over the course of her career, Fiorucci has achieved success in many different sectors, in particular in the fields of art, fashion, social commitment and entrepreneurship.
During her time as head of Cesare Fiorucci S.p.A., a supplier of Italian food products, she led the company to become a leader in Italy and to expand onto the international market. She is a co-founder and honorary vice-chair of ANIMA, a Roman non-profit association that promotes the culture of corporate social responsibility and sustainability in economic, social and environmental contexts. She is also a founder of Alta Roma Fashion Week, an annual event promoting Italian haute couture, and was president of the event until 2009.
A collector and a great supporter of art, Fiorucci holds numerous roles in the cultural field. In 2010, together with Milovan Farronato, she founded the Fiorucci Art Trust, a London-based platform promoting contemporary art at international level. She sponsors a number of cultural institutions around the world, including the Serpentine Galleries, the Gasworks and the new Design Museum in London; Rivoli Castle in Italy; and the Triangle Network, an international network of creative figures and organisations specialising in the professional development of artists. She is also a permanent member of the Kunsthalle Basel and of the International Friends of Documenta. She sits on the jury of MASS Alexandria and was a sponsor of the Italian pavilion at the 57th Venice Biennale.
