A year after the Grenfell Tower fire, the Italian Cultural Institute hosted an event yesterday for children and their families in memory of Marco Gottardi and Gloria Trevisan, a young Italian couple, both architects, who perished in the fire. The event was attended by Marco’s parents, and the Italian ambassador, Raffaele Trombetta, expressed his support for them in his welcome speech.
Marco’s mother, Daniela Burigotto, has written a children’s book called The Knight and the Princess, telling the story of Marco’s life but with a happy ending, and she read the story to a group of children and their families. The proceeds from the sale of the book will go to the Grenfellove Foundation, which Marco’s family set up to support education through scholarships.
The commemoration of the young Italian couple will continue with a charity concert in their memory on 13 June, organised by Peregrine Bryant, the architecture firm where Gloria worked. The proceeds from the concert will go towards an award that the firm is setting up in memory of Gloria and Marco.
