Countdown to COP28: Taking stock of climate science and diplomacy

COP28

Countdown to COP28 will be held on 27 June 2023 at the Natural History Museum in London, organised by the Grantham Institute and the EU Delegation to the UK, in partnership with the Embassy of Italy.

Taking place midway between COP27 and COP28, Countdown to COP28 will bring together climate negotiators, policy experts, and scientists to discuss what steps are needed to ensure COP28 catalyses meaningful action to limit global temperature rise and to address the impacts of a changing climate.

The event will feature expert speakers including,

  • Jacob Werksman, lead climate negotiator for the European Union, European Commission
  • Prof Sir Brian Hoskins, Chair of the Grantham Institute
  • Dr Friederike Otto, Head of World Weather Attribution and Senior Lecturer in Climate Change at Imperial College London
  • Tracy Carty, Global Climate Politics Expert at Greenpeace
  • Chris Skidmore, MP
  • HE Ambassador Majid al-Suwaidi, Director General of COP28 and Special Representative of the UAE
