Italian threads: conversations on fashion Ep. 9: “The New Frontiers of Sustainability and Longevity”

Sacchi Bollati

London, 25 February 2026 – The Embassy of Italy in London hosted the ninth episode of “Italian Threads: Conversations on Fashion,” the series of talks organized in collaboration with the online news outlet ThePlatform. Launched in 2025, the series is dedicated to one of Italy’s most representative industries: fashion. With this episode, the focus broadened to include one of the sectors closely connected to fashion in the strict sense, and in which Italy plays a leading role—namely beauty and personal wellbeing.

The event addressed “The New Frontiers of Sustainability and Longevity,” a rapidly expanding sector that, through a mix of measures and treatments, aims to ensure a high quality of life over time.

The evening’s guest was Davide Bollati, Chairman of Davines Group, a company producing hair and skincare products headquartered in Parma, with a strong presence in the United Kingdom, where one of its nine global branches operates. Founded in 1983 and now a B Corp and benefit corporation in Italy and the US, the company has just launched the new tagline “For a Good Life” for its Davines brand.

“‘For a Good Life,’” Bollati said, “is an invitation to rediscover balance—with the planet and among ourselves—shifting the focus from individual gain to a more harmonious relationship between environmental, economic, and social wellbeing. It is an encouragement to actively embrace all the nuances of life, including its complexities.”

In conversation with Maria Silvia Sacchi, Director of ThePlatform and creator of the project, Bollati recalled how “over these 20 years of Davines’ history, the company has grown and evolved while remaining true to its path and consistently guided by its purpose, without shortcuts, even when the road seemed difficult. This commitment has led us to a new awareness: the desire to inspire people to embrace a different way of living on this planet, looking ahead to the wellbeing of future generations.

“‘For a Good Life’ is neither a new beginning nor a final destination, but a significant step forward in our evolution as a brand. In 2006, we began using the tagline ‘Sustainable Beauty’ for the Davines brand with the aim of clearly expressing our vision: an idea of beauty rooted in harmony between humankind and nature, biophilic and respectful of the planet.”

“What began as a reflection on fashion as one of Italy’s most representative industries has progressively evolved into a broader conversation about the ecosystems that surround it: manufacturing, technology, sustainability, finance, and today, beauty and personal wellbeing,” stated the Ambassador of Italy in London in his introductory remarks, emphasizing how “Davines represents a compelling example of how an Italian enterprise can remain faithful to its founding values while scaling internationally.”

The Italian Threads project with ThePlatform has run in parallel with the “Italian Fashion Days Worldwide” initiative, announced at the end of January 2025 by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Antonio Tajani, together with the leading industry associations.

The series of meetings has so far featured Luca Sburlati (Pattern), Alfonso Dolce (Dolce & Gabbana), Renzo Rosso (Otb), Sergio Tamborini (Ratti), Carlo Capasa (National Chamber of Italian Fashion), Antonio De Matteis (Pitti Immagine), Gianluca Isaia (Isaia Group), Cristina Squarcialupi (Chimet-Unoaerre), Claudio Marenzi (Herno), and Stefano Rosso (Aura Blockchain).
