President of the Italian Chamber of Deputies Lorenzo Fontana visits London

During his visit to London, the President of the Italian Chamber of Deputies, Lorenzo Fontana, together with Ambassador Inigo Lambertini met with the Speaker of the House of Commons, Sir Lindsay Hoyle, for an exchange of views on key parliamentary priorities and on opportunities to further strengthen cooperation between the Italian and British legislative institutions.

On the same occasion, President Fontana inaugurated the Italian Pavilion at the London Book Fair, one of the leading international events for the publishing industry. During the visit to the Pavilion, he met with Giovanni Sacchi, Director of the London office of the Italian Trade Agency (ICE), and Francesco Bongarrà, Director of the Italian Cultural Institute in London, with whom he discussed initiatives aimed at promoting Italian culture and publishing in the United Kingdom.

During the visit, President Fontana also awarded the honour of Officer of the Order of the Star of Italy to Alberto Costa MP, Member of the House of Commons and Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Italy, in recognition of his longstanding efforts to foster relations between Italy and the United Kingdom and to promote parliamentary cooperation between the two countries.
