The Italy’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Lapo Pistelli, was in London today. He met with representatives at the Department for International Development (DFID) and the Overseas Development Institute (ODI) to discuss current trends in international cooperation.
On this occasion, the Deputy Minister met Mark Lowcock, Permanent Secretary, and Nick Dyer, Director General for Policy and Global Programmes, both of DFID. Later, he met with interlocutors at the Overseas Development Institute (ODI), the UK’s leading independent think tank on international development and humanitarian issuesan independent British organisation for international development and humanitarian issues.
The Deputy Minister underlined that, despite the still difficult economic situation, Italy is achieving impressive results in the field of development, especially in areas such as agriculture and health. Deputy Minister Pistelli also added that Italy and the United Kingdom share many common points in their respective development policies, and that the fruitful cooperation in this area between the two countries will continue in view of upcoming events in the framework of international cooperation.
