London, 24 February 2026 – The Embassy of Italy in London hosted the opening of the exhibition Intracosm by Carolina Mazzolari at Italy House. The tapestry exhibition was accompanied by a performance by dancer Kristen McNally, Principal Character Artist of the Royal Ballet in London.
“Intracosm by Carolina Mazzolari is a project that brings together artistic research, contemporary sensitivity, and interdisciplinary dialogue. The artist’s work, which translates psychological and emotional states into textile forms of great evocative power, is a significant example of the vitality and complexity of Italian creativity in London,” stated the Italian Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Inigo Lambertini.
“Kristen McNally’s performance, as a leading artist of the Royal Ballet, further enriched the exhibition experience, creating a compelling bridge between visual arts and the moving body. Initiatives such as this confirm the Embassy’s role as a place of meeting and exchange among Italian and British cultures, languages, and artistic institutions,” he added.
Carolina Mazzolari (born in 1981 in Milan) is a London-based multidisciplinary artist working across textiles, sculpture, photography, video, and performance. Her practice explores psychological states through abstraction, with references to psychoanalysis and cognitive studies, and is inspired by biomimetic typologies of organic origin.
Mazzolari studied Fashion Design at the Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti (NABA) in Milan (1999–2001) and Textile Design at the Chelsea College of Art in London (UAL, 2001–2004). She has been based in London since 2014.
Her work has been exhibited internationally, including recently at the Freud Museum and the Royal Academy of Arts in London, at Palazzo Zaguri in Venice, and at the Museo di Santa Croce in Genoa. Her works are also part of the permanent collection of the Museum of Old and New Art (MONA) in Tasmania.
The exhibition Intracosm will remain on display at the new premises of the Embassy of Italy in London, located at 4 Buckingham Gate, until 13 March.
