Order of the Star of Italy award conferred to Professor Maurice Fraser, Head of the European Institute at The London School of Economics and Charles Grant, Director of the Centre for European Reform.

Professor Maurice Fraser and Director Charles Grant were awarded the prestigious Italian Order of the Star yesterday evening by Ambassador Pasquale Terracciano.

Charles Grant, whose expertise and research on European issues and international politics is much respected, has always manifested a personal interest in Italian economy and politics. He has fostered the participation of distinguished guests from the Italian political world to conferences and seminars, which has contributed to providing a more truthful and in-depth portrayal of Italy to audiences in the United Kingdom which have included distinguished participants, academics and students.

Maurice Fraser introduced a vast number of Italian politicians, during their institutional visits in London, during political discussions on the United Kingdom – including the President of the Italian Republic, Sergio Mattarella, who spoke at LSE last May. Professor Fraser has also contributed to providing to the British public a picture of Italy which goes beyond stereotypes and accurately reflects Italy’s contemporary reality, through the organisation of numerous seminars, conferences and round-tables at the London School of Economics.
