Italian Defence Minister Roberta Pinotti giving her keynote speech at Chatham House
Common defence policy, Libia and Daesh the main topics addressed by Minister Pinotti during her visit to London
Defence Minister Roberta Pinotti spoke this morning at the conference on “Security and Defence in Europe – Diverging Interests, Fragmenting Policy” organised by Chatham House. She gave a keynote speech during the first session of the conference, named “Contrasting Approaches or a Common Policy” during which Minister Pinotti called for increased European cooperation and coordination in matters of common defence policy.
Lamberto Zannier, Secretary General of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert, Minister of Defence, The Netherlands and Katrin Suder, State Secretary for Defence of Germany, were among other featured speakers.
The Italian Minister of Defence met later with her British counterpart, Secretary of State for Defence Michael Fallon, with whom she discussed international security and defence matters, including the situation in Libya.
