Antonio D’Amato and Francine Lacqua were the protagonists of yesterday’s second meeting of the series “Triple I, Italian Immaginative Innovators”, which is organised by the Italian Embassy in London. The aim of this series of events is to create an arena which stimulates debate between Italian business leaders and other experts in the economic and financial fields.

Ambassador Terracciano introduced the conversation by highlighting the importance of Triple I, an initiative which demonstrates Italy’s intention to exhibit its economic potential as well as to illustrate the capacities of Italian managers and entrepreneurs who have managed to maintain a high profile in the global market despite a long period of recession.

D’Amato, President of Seda Group, a company which is renowned in the packaging sector, intervened on the Italian economic system and spoke about the great potential of Italian entrepreneurs and of their contribution to the economic recovery of the country. He underlined the importance of the transformation of small-medium companies into global players and discussed the challenges posed by the European market to today’s business. D’Amato also emphasised the significance of incorporating environmentally-friendly solutions in the productive processes and recognised that Italy has made great progress in this perspective.

Prompted by Francine Lacqua of Bloomberg TV, D’Amato stated that “more Europe, and not less, is necessary to overcome the current crisis”. He affirmed that Brexit poses a series of strategic challenges to companies, that have slowed down and suspended investments while waiting for a clear outcome. D’Amato also expressed his hope that the United Kingdom remains in the European Union.

The next event of the Triple I series will take place on the 8th of July. It will feature Giulio Bonazzi, CEO of Aquafil, one of the main global producers of synthetic fibre and Al-Jazeera anchor Barbara Serra.
