Triple I – A conversation between Andrea Rasca (Mercato Metropolitano) and Enrico Franceschini (La Repubblica)

Andrea Rasca, the founder of Mercato Metropolitano (MM), spoke at a meeting of Triple I – Italian Imaginative Innovators, a series of events organised by the Italian Embassy in London. MM is a new market model based on the principles “small is beautiful” and “natural is good”.

In a conversation with Enrico Franceschini, the London correspondent for La Repubblica, Andrea Rasca explained how MM’s vision of re-establishing contact between the consumer and the original product is fully in the spirit of the Milan Charter, the cultural legacy of Expo 2015.

The Charter’s main themes are the right to adequate, healthy, nutritious food, and sustainable production, as mentioned by Ambassador Pasquale Terracciano in his opening remarks. The Charter discusses the management of natural resources and energy sources as well as the social and cultural value of food, stressing that it should be managed fairly, rationally and efficiently, for the sake of both present and future generations.

Previous Triple I meetings have featured Alberto Nagel (Mediobanca), Antonio d’Amato (Seda Group), Giulio Bonazzi, Lorenza Luti (Kartell) and Nerio Alessandri (Technogym). This week’s meeting, with Andrea Rasca, was integrated into the first Week of Italian Cuisine in the World, which was marked in the UK by a series of events, conferences, workshops, masterclasses and film screenings.
