The fourth “Equity and Debt Investment in Italy Conference” was held today at the Embassy of Italy in London. The event, organised by Legance and the Italian Embassy and with the patronage of the Italian Ministry of Economic Development, saw the participation of numerous key figures in the sector.

Opening speeches were given by Ambassador Pasquale Terracciano, and by the founder and senior partner of Legance, Filippo Troisi.

The Ambassador observed in his speech: “Italian companies that currently operate successfully on international markets, ranging from larger groups to the so-called pocket-sized multinationals, have overcome the difficulties of the economic crisis and have emerged stronger than ever.”

Andrea Enria, chairman of the European Banking Authority, and Luisa Todini, chairwoman of Poste Italiane S.p.A., the Italian postal service, discussed “Reshaping the Italian economic landscape: new roles for public corporations, the economic and financial reforms and the European perspective”. The discussion was facilitated by Marco Ferrando, a journalist at Il Sole 24 Ore.

The event continued with three more roundtable discussions:

– “Investing in Italian Financial Institutions and/or NPLs”

– “Consolidation and development of the Italian banking system: lessons learned and the next steps”

– “Long term equity investments: market opportunities in all sectors, challenges and lessons learned”

Andrea Giannelli, the founder and senior partner of Legance; Marco Gubitosi, the managing partner in London; and Bruno Bartocci, a lawyer with the firm, also participated in the discussions.

“The high attendance at the fourth Equity and Debt Investments conference demonstrates the growing interest among City investors in the Italian industrial financial market. We are witnessing an indisputable recovery in the Italian market,” commented Gubitosi.

Today’s event is within the framework of the wide range of public diplomacy programmes organised and promoted by the Italian Embassy in London. Such meetings favour a continuous dialogue with City analysts and investors, with a view to providing them with in-depth analysis on the latest developments in investment opportunities in Italy.
