2017 AIM Italia conference

The 2017 AIM Italia conference was held in London today at the London Stock Exchange. The conference presented some of the most dynamic SMEs quoted in the AIM segment of Borsa Italiana.

The delegation, headed by Barbara Lunghi, the head of Borsa Italiana’s Primary Markets division, consists of eight top-calibre companies in sectors including media, ITC, logistics, industrial equipment, agro-industry, financial services and ecomaterials.

The eight companies were presented during the morning session, before an audience of potential British investors, following which face-to-face meetings were held in the afternoon.

AIM Italia was launched in Italy in 2009 as a segment of Borsa Italiana dedicated to SMEs with significant growth potential. AIM Italia offers greater flexibility, thanks to a simplified procedure for floating companies wishing to enter the capital market. As of December 2016, 77 companies were quoted on AIM Italia, accounting for total capitalisation of €2.9bn.

In the evening, the Italian ambassadorial residence hosted a networking event for the visiting delegation and representatives of the London financial community. In his welcome address, Ambassador Terracciano highlighted the value of the solid partnership between the Embassy of Italy in London and Borsa Italiana. He also praised the valuable opportunities offered by the versatile AIM Italia instrument, which combines regulatory rigour and streamlined procedures for accessing the capital market, observing that in view of the fundamental role of SMEs in Italy’s productive structure, it is vital to encourage investors to focus on them.
