Ambassador Raffaele Trombetta speaks on BBC Radio 4 about Brexit

This morning, as the European Council met, Ambassador Raffaele Trombetta spoke on the Today programme on BBC Radio 4 about the latest developments in the Brexit negotiations. He reiterated the statement by Professor Enzo Moavero Milanesi, the Italian minister of foreign affairs, that Italy is committed to ensuring a positive outcome.

The ambassador highlighted that such complex negotiations require determination if they are to be successful. He said that Italy is confident that this is possible and highlighted that the relationship between the EU and the UK is based on shared values and priorities such as citizens’ rights, collective security and trade relations.
