Luiss Networking Event

The 4th of July saw the Embassy of Italy host a networking event organised by LUISS Guido Carli University and its alumni association, to bring together successful Italians in London and publicise the role of alumni associations in creating links between universities and the world of business and civil society. The event was part of the programme overseen by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to promote Italian excellence through its embassies and consulates around the world.

The event was opened by the ambassador, Raffaele Trombetta, who said that the fact that so many top-level positions in the UK are held by graduates of Italian universities is testament to the quality of Italian higher education.

The panel discussion was moderated by Alessandra Galloni, global news editor at Thomson Reuters. The speakers were Andrea Prencipe, the rector of LUISS; Alessandro Barnaba, global chair of investment banking at JP Morgan; Luigi De Vecchi, head of continental Europe for corporate and investment banking at Citigroup; Daniela Marilungo, head of government affairs for EMEA at Bank of America Merrill Lynch and member of the board of directors of Juventus Football Club and Leila Simona Talani, professor of international political economy at King’s College London.
