The President of the Italian National Research Council presents reforms to Italian research in the framework of ‘Horizon Europe’ and the Recovery and Resilience Plan

During a visit to London on 25 February, Professor Maria Chiara Carrozza, president of the Italian National Research Council (CNR), gave a presentation at the embassy, attended by representatives of the local academic and scientific community. She gave an overview of the opportunities and challenges presented by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan and the Horizon Europe programme, which was launched last year by the European Commission to subsidise European research and innovation projects.

The presentation was preceded by a welcome address by the deputy head of mission, Minister Alessandro Motta, and an introduction by the scientific attaché, Professor Roberto Buizza. Professor Carrozza then gave an overview of the reformed structure of the CNR, designed to respond to current needs in scientific research, retain Italian talent and seek collaboration with scientific organisations in other countries. The event ended with a question-and-answer session.

The event was streamed live by AISUK, the Association of Italian Scientists in the UK, which co-organised it.
