On the occasion of the 2026 National Made in Italy Day, the event “Coral and Cameos – Catwalk and Exhibition” was held on 15 April at the Embassy of Italy in London, organised in collaboration with the Italian Trade Agency (ITA/ICE) and Assocoral.
The event was one of the most important initiatives promoting Italian high-end jewellery sector in the United Kingdom and aimed to showcase the excellence of the Italian tradition in coral and cameo craftsmanship, a distinctive expression of the Torre del Greco district. The sector includes around 200 companies, employs approximately 2,000 people, generates a production value of over €20 million, and has a strong export orientation, with about 70% of total production destined for international markets.
“The aim of this event is to promote a historic supply chain that combines artistic tradition with aesthetic quality, sustainability, and innovation, while strengthening dialogue with the UK, a key market for us,” stated the Chargé d’Affaires, Riccardo Smimmo.
The evening opened with a fashion show in the ambassadorial residence, accompanied by a descriptive presentation of the pieces. Models showcased creations by the Italian companies involved in the project — Aucella, Bruno Mazza, Antonino De Simone, De Simone Fratelli, Evanueva, Mattia Mazza, Giov. Ascione & Figli, and Cameo Italiano. The show was followed by an exhibition of jewellery from the same brands and a live demonstration by a master engraver, illustrating traditional crafting techniques, with a focus on sustainability aspects and the artistic value of the works.
“With this initiative, we aim to highlight the unique and highly artisanal characteristics that make this sector an emblematic example of the Made in Italy brand in global markets”, said the Director of the Italian Trade Agency in London, Giovanni Sacchi.
The initiative seeks to strengthen the positioning of Italian products in the British market, fostering dialogue with industry professionals, importers, and specialist press, including through dedicated storytelling activities and illustrative materials.
“The National Made in Italy Day is a source of great pride for us: presenting, in such prestigious settings and before high-profile British stakeholders, what makes our territory unique and recognisable worldwide—namely the craftsmanship of coral and cameo, which is carried out exclusively in Torre del Greco with these distinctive characteristics,” stated the head of Assocoral, Vincenzo Aucella.
