Meeting of Italian Delegation to the Central European Initiative Parliamentary Assembly with EBRD

Italian senators Ludovico Sonego and Francesco Scoma, respectively President and member of the Italian delegation to the Central European Initiative (CEI) Parliamentary Assembly, visited London today, where they met with representatives of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).

Senators Sonego and Scoma held talks with Ambassador Terracciano, the Executive Director for Italy Raffaella Di Maro and the Alternate Executive Director Dante Brandi, as well as with Italian managers working at the bank and Guido Paolucci, coordinator of the InCE fund at EBRD. During the talks, the visiting senators examined the prospect of an intensified cooperation between EBRD and the Parliamentarian component of the Central European Initiative with a view to fostering initiatives in the Balkans. They were accompanied by Dr Thaulero, Head of the Inter-parliamentary Relations Office of the Italian Senate.

Infrastructure, energy, private sector development, particularly relating to intiatives benefitting SME’s, regional integration and complementarity with European strategy and prospects for the South-eastern area of Europe, were confirmed as common priorities to be highlighted, also through the Parliamentary component of CEI.
