Art to Business (A2B): a new series by the Embassy of Italy

A new series of events launches today at the Embassy of Italy in London. Art to Business (A2B), a celebration of Italian creativity,  will showcase the stories of figures from contemporary Italian culture. Drawing on the Italian spirit of viewing culture, in all its shapes and forms, as a fundamental resource, the initiative will celebrate art and examine the concrete impact it can have.

A2B, conceived by Ambassador Raffaele Trombetta, will promote Italian creativity and explore the economic impact of the creative sector and the ways in which it shapes Italy’s image, and will look at how the Italian economic, banking and financial sectors support art. It will be an opportunity to bring together the world of culture, which is seeking innovative means to support itself, and the world of business and industry, which increasingly sees creativity as an instrument of development.

The first event of the series, on 14 November, will be a conversation about patronage of the arts by banking foundations, between Michele Coppola, Intesa Sanpaolo’s director of art, culture and history, and Roberta Cremoncini, the director of the Estorick Collection, moderated by Class CNBC presenter Angela Antetomaso.

On the occasion of the event, Umberto Boccioni’s painting Officine a Porta Romana (1909-1910) will be displayed at the embassy. The work, part of Intesa Sanpaolo’s collection, will be exhibited from 21 November 2018 to 20 January 2019 at the Estorick Collection in Islington as part of the exhibition Woman + Landscape, Umberto Boccioni 1907-1912.

The A2B series will continue with quarterly events dedicated to design, haute couture, contemporary art and music.
