Ambassador Raffaele Trombetta met today at the ambassadorial residence in Grosvenor Square with London-based journalists representing Italian media outlets to discuss a number of issues of current interest.

The ambassador gave an overview of some of the issues on which the embassy and the consular network will focus in the near future. A series of informative meetings will be held for Italians living in London and other cities around the UK, regular analysis of the impact of Brexit will be released, and the measures adopted to protect citizens’ rights and current and future trade relations will be monitored.

The ambassador also confirmed that the embassy continues to focus on maintaining dialogue between Italy and the UK on issues of international policy of mutual interest, an area of activity that will likely intensify in the autumn, in the light of Brexit.

The journalists offered a number of reflections on the implications of the political phase that the UK is currently going through and provided updates on the activities and expectations of the numerous Italian communities in the UK.

The meeting was part of a regular programme of events to provide a platform for dialogue between the embassy and the various bodies representing the Italian community in the UK.
