The Embassy of Italy in London hosted a reception for Italian National Day, marking the day the Italian people voted for their country to become a republic. The event at the Embassy celebrated republican values, showcasing Italian tradition, quality and community spirit.
The celebration was attended by high-profile guests, including Ellie Reeves, the chair of the Labour Party; Theresa May, the former British prime minister; numerous ambassadors; and representatives of British and Italian institutions.
Antonio Tajani, the deputy president of the Council of Ministers and minister of foreign affairs and international cooperation, sent a video message, which was played during the event. Ambassador Inigo Lambertini gave a speech in which he highlighted the solidity and depth of the links between Italy and the UK. A speech was also given by Ellie Reeves, who mentioned her personal connection with Italy and highlighted the notable contribution made by the Italian community to the UK’s social, cultural and economic spheres.
