Today, starting at 4pm CET (3pm BST) the third in a monthly #Youth4Climate series of webinars, focusing on “Driving Youth Action”, will take place online. It is hosted by the Italian Ministry of Environment, with international partners and stakeholders from across the world and youth who will engage in an intergenerational virtual forum.
The webinar will feature a recorded address by the Italian Minister for the Environment, Sergio Costa and participants will include Jayathma Wickramanayake, UN Secretary General’s Envoy on Youth, Salina Abraham, Outgoing President of the International Forestry Students’ Association and Ahmed Badr, writer, multi-media artist, social entrepreneur, the Founder of Narratio, the latter two taking part as moderators.
The Italian Ministry of Environment, in collaboration with Connect4Climate – World Bank Group and the Office of Secretary-General’s Envoy on Youth, as part of the initiatives organised in the run-up to the COP26 (Glasgow, November 2021), launched during this summer an ambitious program of virtual and interactive meetings addressed to young people around the world, with a view to the special events that will both take place in Milan ahead of the Glasgow summit: “Youth4Climate: Driving Ambition“, 28-30 September 2021, and of the Pre-Cop26, 30 September-2 October 2021. These will be international conferences, during which, for the first time, young people will bring directly a contribution to negotiations.
The Youth4Climate series is part of the build up to next year’s 26th Conference of the Parties (COP) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). Italy and the UK will assume the Presidency in a unique partnership aiming to attain tangible action in countering climate change.
